Psychotherapy

Ketamine therapy is best done under the guidance of a licensed psychotherapist. Aion Trauma Center is partnering with Kismet Ketamine & Wellness Infusions to offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for those undergoing this exciting new treatment modality. Integrated material generated in psychedelic sessions with a therapist promotes deeper growth and balanced healing.

Psychotherapy Types

Ketamine Assisted EMDR Psychotherapy

Aion Trauma Center is one of the very few places in the continental United States currently offering this innovative approach to psychotherapy, and may be the first of its kind to bring this supercharged treatment to the East Coast. A certified EMDR therapist (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) will integrate the ketamine experience with evidence-based therapeutic methods that help reprocess disturbing memories. This treatment approach is highly recommended for people with extensive trauma histories and who currently experience PTSD symptoms.

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

Patients who combine ketamine with psychotherapy often experience accelerated shifts with fewer psychotherapeutic challenges than those who do stand-alone treatments. Patients who undergo ketamine therapy experience expanded states of consciousness that inspire novel approaches to problems that previously felt insurmountable. Usual ego defenses and entrenched thought patterns are disrupted as the brain is allowed to make new connections with ketamine. These new insights and “ways of being” are brought into the therapeutic process and integrated in a safe and supportive setting with a highly trained psychotherapist.

Initial Psychological Evaluation

If you are not currently under the care of a mental health professional, a staff psychotherapist will provide an evaluation for you prior to engaging in ketamine therapy. This evaluation will consider past and current mental health history, and you’ll discuss current meds with medical staff. If you are not currently under the care of a mental health provider, you will be required to engage with a psychotherapist during ketamine treatment. Kismet therapists are also available for ongoing treatment should a client wish to engage with these services.
